The Refugee crisis in Syria is considered the greatest immigration concern since World War II. Countries and nations all over the world are trying to help the displaced 10 million refugees, half of which are children.
To compound the problem, there is a lot of misinformation and fear surrounding this issue. You can help this crisis in four ways: First, educate yourselves. Know the real issues at hand. Second, petition. Third, donate to the Church World Service. Fourth, pray.
We have teamed up with Church World Service to help provide help to relocated refugees in New Jersey. To help us, here are a few things you can do.
1. Educate yourselves.
Here is a great resource explaining the Syrian Refugee Crisis.
Here is an explanation of how refugees are screened before they arrive in our country.
2. Donate. You can help by donating furniture and household items when we are called upon to help provide them for relocating families. You can also help us set up the items in the apartments. Please contact Mary Mayer for more information or to donate your items.
3. Pray. Pray that God will inspire and empower others to help the refugees fleeing the oppression and evil of ISIS. Pray that Americans will turn to God in order to displace their fears and grow their compassion. Pray for the refugees. Pray for our enemies that they will turn to God, confess their sin, and find salvation.
